An RFID middleware is connected with dozens of readers and collects RFID data from the readers.The EPC-IS is the upper layer with a big database.Its main function is to persistently store RFID data provided by several RFID middleware instances.Usually,an individual EPC-IS instance is maintained by a node in the supply chain such as a manufacturing shop,a distributor’s warehouse,an import or export site,and a retailer.Once a product arrives at a node,the product is registered in the EPC-IS instance by the RFID reader in the entrance to the node.
