否定當然要再情態(tài)動詞之后啊,
我們都知道not是一個否定副詞,但在具體語言環(huán)境中并非一律譯成"不".在此將not常見的用法做以歸納,以供大家參考.
1.not通常與be動詞、助動詞、情態(tài)動詞連用以構成否定,常略作-n't.如果否定非謂語動詞(不定式、動名詞、分詞),則置于非謂語動詞之前.如:
They are not (aren't) here.
Did she see him?No,she didn't.
He warned me not to be late.
Not allowed to work,he got very
angry.
2.not用在動詞think、suppose、believe、expect、hope、seem等,副詞probably、perhaps等,及詞組be afraid等后面,代替that引導的表示否定意義的從句.如:
-Will they come tomorrow?
-I suppose not.(=I suppose they will not come tomorrow.)
-Will it rain this afternoon?
-Probably not.(=Probably it will not rain.)
-May I come in?
-I'm afraid not.(=I'm afraid you can't.)
注:如果是肯定回答,則一般用so代替that引導的表示肯定意義的從句.
3.not與all、both、every、always、entirely等連用時可表示部分否定.如:
All is not gold that glitters.閃光的未必都是金子.
Every person cannot do it.并非每一個人都能做到這一點.
He is not always so kind to people.他并非總對人那么友好.
注:表示全部否定時,常用none、no、neither、never、 nowhere等,或者not與any、anything等連用也可表示全部否定,另外all、both、every等和帶in-,un-,dis-等否定前綴的詞連用時,也表示全部否定.如:
I know none of them.他們中我一個人也不認識.
I don't know any of them.我不認識他們中任何一個人.

4.在主從復合句中,not一般根據需要對主句或從句進行否定.如:
He didn't say he would come.他沒說他要來.
He said he wouldn't come.他說他不來了.
但表示看法的常用動詞think、believe、suppose等后接賓語從句,或表示感覺的詞語appear、seem、feel、feel like、look as if、sound like等后接從句時,這些從句如表示否定意義,一般將not放在主句中,這是英語的習慣用法.如:
I don't suppose that she will be back soon.我想她不會很快回來.
It doesn't seem that we can win.看來我們贏不了.
It doesn't look like rain.看來不會下雨.
I don't feel I can stand it any longer.我覺得再也受不了了.
