either...or...與 neither...nor...
一、either...or...
either...or...意為"或者……或者……；不是……就是……"之意.表示兩者之一,連接句子中兩個并列的成分.例如：
When the girl is happy,she either sings or dances.那個女孩高興時,不是唱就是跳.(此句中either...or...連接兩個動詞,因為主語是單數(shù)第三人稱,謂語動詞要用其相應(yīng)的形式.)
either...or...連接兩個主語時,其謂語動詞應(yīng)與最近的一個主語在人稱和數(shù)上保持一致,這就是我們通常說的"就近原則".例如：
Either you or I am going there tomorrow.明天要么你去那里,要么我去那里.
注意：如果把上句變成一般疑問句,助動詞形式與主語you保持一致,所以要用are提問,而不是am.例如：
Are either you or I going there tomorrow?明天是你還是我去那里?
Either you or he has lunch at school.其一般疑問句應(yīng)為：Do either you or he have lunch at school?是你還是他在學校吃午飯?
若要對either...or...句型進行否定時,只需把either...or...換成neither...nor...即可.例如：
Either you or she is good at drawing.變?yōu)榉穸ň鋺?yīng)為：Neither you nor she is good at drawing.你和她都不擅長繪畫.
我們還可以單獨使用either,其意為"兩者中的任何一個".例如：
There are many shops on either side of the street.街道兩邊有許多商店.這個句子也可以這樣表達：There are many shops on both sides of the street.在街道兩邊有許多商店.
either用在否定句的句末,表示"也"的意思.例如：
If you don\'t go there.I won\'t,either.如果你不去那里,我也不去.
二、neither...nor...
neither...nor...表示"既不……也不……".其含義是否定的,可連接任意兩個并列的成份.例如：
She likes neither butter nor cheese.她既不喜歡黃油也不喜歡乳酪.此句中neither...nor...連接兩個賓語.當neither...nor...連接兩個主語時,也應(yīng)遵循"就近原則".例如：
Neither dad nor mum is at home today.今天父母都不在家.
若將neither...nor...句型變?yōu)榭隙ň?只需把neither...nor...改為both...and...即可,同時謂語動詞必須用復數(shù)形式.例如：
Both dad and mum are at home today.今天父母都在家.
還可以單獨使用neither作主語,表示"兩者中沒有一個".例如：
Neither of them likes football.他們倆都不喜歡足球.
neither或nor還有另外一種用法,就是當表達一個人沒有做某事,另一個人也沒做同一類事時,可用neither或nor進行簡略回答,其結(jié)構(gòu)為：Neither / Nor+助動詞 / 情態(tài)動詞 / be動詞+主語.例如：
He doesn\'t go to school by bike.Neither / Nor do I.他不是騎自行車上學,我也不是.
They didn\'t go to the park yesterday.Neither / Nor did we.昨天他們沒去公園,我們也沒去.1) both (兩者都),either(兩者中任何一個),neither (兩者都不).以上詞使用范圍為兩個人或物.
Neither of the two boys is clever.兩個男孩都不聰明.
2) both,either
both與復數(shù)連用,either與單數(shù)連用.
Both the boys are clever.兩個男孩都很聰明.
Either of the two boys is clever.兩個男孩都很聰明.
There are flowers on both sides of the street.
(兩岸)
There are flowers on either side of the street.
(岸的兩邊)
路邊長滿了野花.
3) all (所有的,全部的人或物),any (任何一個),none (都不).以上詞使用范圍為三者以上.
All the flowers are gone.所有的花都謝了.
I don't like any of the flowers.這些花我都不喜歡.
I like none of the flowers.這些花我都不喜歡.
注意：all與none用法一樣.跟單數(shù)名詞,用單數(shù)動詞；跟復數(shù)名詞,用復數(shù)動詞.
All of the students are there.
所有的學生都在那.
All (of) the milk is there.
所有的牛奶都在那.
