Human beings evolved from one generation to another. When it comes to the contemporary generation, a new phenomenon emerges: lack of understanding between parents and children. A new term is hence coined: Generation Gap.
Different people hold different opinions on “ generation gap”. Some people insist that parents should be condemned for the generation gap between them and their children. A lot of parents are not good listeners. Their excuse is that they don’t have enough time to listen to their kids’ voices since they are so busy in making money. Even they have the time to listen, they just want to listen to what they want to know: kids’ academic performance. Others they are not interested in. Some others thought that neither parents nor kids are at fault. Generation gap has been existing at all times. So don’t attempt to eliminate “generation gap”. When the present kids become parents, a new generation gap will be shaped between them and their kids. Time changes, different generations have different values and ideals. Generation gap will be inevitable.
Can generation gap be eliminated? When you disagree with your parents or children, how do you handle the relationship between you and your children/parents? Keep silent or have a hot debate?
The "generation gap" exists in many species. It represents the time just before the younger generation becomes more powerful than the older generation. I watch it every year in the deer herd as young bucks fight for does. Only mature bucks get does.
It is similar in people. The young get their ideas and think that they "know everything" and their parents are stupid. Of course, they do not appreciate our wisdom until their children reach that time in their lives ;-)
However, in China, the "generation gap" is not a normal generation gap. The social change brought by opening up and new wealth has turned the "gap" into a chasm.
True, generation gap is a big social problem in China. Parents are doing their best to make money in order to make their children live a materially comfortable life. They invest their energy, time and even passion in the business of making money. Fathers seldom stay with children and go home drunk. They are busy in attending banquet and bussiness talks in order to let the bussiness done. Mothers are busy in visiting beauty salon to get them beautified. Neither part of parents are attentive parents to sit beside their children and listen to their kid's voices patiently. What they give enough to their kids is money.
So i think both of theparents or children will pay for he generation gap!
