In nowadays world,this problem caused a large-scale argument.Some people hold such an opinion that Athletes should NOT be role models,yet others complain against it.I PREFER THE FORMER ONE RATHER THAN THE LAST ONE.
What is role model?I have been thinking about the words “role model” all these days:what it means to people,especially to those young people?Glory,halos of success,star status or their own futures?Maybe the answer is quite simple:just because they like those role models,and want to know what the role models'hobbies are,what they do every day,and the like.In sports field,there are many role models like that.They are privileged beings and worshipped by their crazy supporters.In sports arena,they create a lot of records that others cannot beyond,they are the twinkling stars.But,where are they off-field,and what are they doing outside sports?
Diego Maradona,the greatest player in the history of football.It’s said that his famous left foot was worth 3,000,000 dollars.Because of his excellent performance and splendid football skill,he won respect form all the people around world.However,where is he now?Abuse drugs,obesity eat at his heart day by day.Is he an eligible role model?
ABSOLUTELY NO.The answer is quite simple also.
When a talent ended his career like that,we all feel sad,and I can’t help asking that:'who destroyed our hero?Himself or our society?The answer is still uncertain.
In a word,today's sportsdom was established by cash,corruption and scandals.In this special material world,who can become an eligible role model and lead people's behavior,particularlly youngsters?'No one.'This is my answer.If the sportsmen,especially the so-called sports stars still do not reflect on their misbehaviors,it's hard to image the results of we next generation.

athletes should/not be role models,why?
I din't agree the opinion generally speaking,
even a fool occasionally hits on a good idea;
first of all even the wise are not always free from error.
So I think everyone has his own advantage and disadvantage.
for the athletes ,simply their athletes spirit ,eg.being unremitting,are worthy of being learned for all of us .
For others ,it varies from person to person.
on the other hand,it's more important to analyse the reason why people often say "athletes should/not be role models".
In my opinion ,all are because of the lower education background although some attend in a advanced studies after getting a cup or Champion ,which are just for the diploma or repute .(as if a reputed univercity man ,pls take note that it just related separate person/case.Some athletes' culture quality are correspondingly lower and some are not quoit cultivated and seem to lack of cultivation.
besides,some strange instance about athletes affect people's idea strongly.
To be honest,no one can say much for their some activities.
In a word,I really admire the spirit of them such as LiuXiang.It is difficult to find another ,I think .
