Yield management is now commonly used in the allocation of airline seats.

Commonly, yield means percentage of certain thing in the total ourocme.
For example, for airline seats, it can mean how many seats are occupied when an airplane takes off. This is called occupacy rate, a kind of yield.
However, it can also mean how much revenue you received when an airplane takes off. This is more about total yield management.
