Students in Xi'an,capital of northwest China's shaanxi Province,have enjoyed longer sleep after the International Labor Day vacation.All the Primary and middle schools in the city have carried out the new schedule of 8 am for primary school pupils and 7:40-8:00 am for middle school stndents.If school do not carry out the new rule,they will be punished.Supervison groups will be sent to local schools to make sure that all the schools are carrying out the rule.
"It's for the first time that the local educational authority has made such rule on going to school times for primary and middle schol students,and Xi'an is one of the few pioneer cities,"Zhang Jiangguo,director of Xi'an Education Bureau,said."The rule wo made for our 1.16 million students is to show our determination of making the burden on the chilren lighter."
Tang yue is a 9 years old student in Xi'an Dayanta Primary School.She thinks the rule is good."I can sleep longer and do not have to go to school when the sky is still dark."said the little girl.The new rule also has got support from some teachers."My student can do better in class if they have longer sleep.The rule can also give teachers some rest time in the morning,"one of Tang Yue's teachers said.
