Machine Guarding:
The intent of machine guarding devices is to protect the user from moving parts,which may cause cuts or create a “nip point” hazard in which a body part could become caught in the equipment.Further,machine-guarding devices can help to prevent injuries from flying particles.
9.2.1 As a general rule,all machine parts or process functions that may cause injury to the machine user must be safeguarded.Examples include:
9.2.1.1 Point of Operation (the area of a machine where work is actually performed upon the material being processed
9.2.1.2 In-running “nip” points
9.2.1.3 Rotating parts
9.2.1.4 Areas where flying debris or sparks may be generated.
